Text Box: The Susquehanna Valley Region of the Horseless Carriage Club of America is back !!!! The region serves south-central PA and northern Maryland.

After about six years of dormancy the region has emerged from its “Rip VanWinkle like” state and now has a bright future. Over the winter a list of potential members was developed and in February an organizational meeting was held in Mt Joy, PA. Thirty five people attended the meeting and enthusiastically endorsed the idea of holding four tours per year with an annual meeting in November and another pre-season meeting in early spring.

On April 30 a great group of brass age cars and a few slightly newer ones went on a forty mile tour through the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside. This was the club’s first event and by all accounts a rousing success.
The day began at the famous Martin Carriage Auction. We stopped for a short visit at Mike Gardner’s restoration shop. Mike is working on some very interesting cars including a Graham, an Elgin and a Dual Ghia but the real star seemed to be Mike’s Text Box: After a great lunch at the Brickerville House and Shops we drove through magnificent scenery and eventually to Cornwall Manor Retirement Village. Many of the participants enjoyed a tour of the historic Cornwall Iron Furnace while the Manor residents spent time enjoying the cars and reminiscing about the ones they once owned.
At the end of the day everyone drove to Bob and Nancy Ladd’s farm for some light refreshment and great fellowship. This was a great day with perfect weather and wonderful camaraderie. The future looks extremely bright for this newly-reorganized touring club.
